For the HIKER.

Surrounded by the George Washington National Forest and the two ridges of the Massanutten Mountains, Fort Valley offers access to numerous trails for hikers of all levels. Trail maps are available at the store.

Massanutten Story Book Trail is located  off  Crisman Hollow Road, south of the store. This boardwalk trail is completely wheelchair accessible. Along the path that leads to a stunning view of the Shenandoah Valley and Skyline  Drive, displays show the geological  history of this mountain that was once an underwater sea.

Lion's Tale Trail is also located off Crisman Hollow Road. This unique trail is designed for the visually impaired and all others who wish to experience the forest with all of your senses.

Woodstock Tower trail is just a few miles from the store up the Woodstock Tower Road. A short hike will take you to this old watch tower with a spectacular view of the Seven Bends of the Shenandoah River.

For the HORSE LOVER

Secret Passage Ranch is located about 6 miles north of the store.  They have riding, lessons, boarding, and events. Most noteworthy is their Victory for Veterans program. 

Fort Valley Ranch is located about 7 miles south of the store, this ranch provides guided rides on their horses or you can bring your own. They have campsites with water and electric hook-ups and several small cabins.

For the CAMPER.

Elizabeth Furnace Recreation Area is located about 9 miles north of the store in the George Washington National Forest. This area provides a full campground, a group campground,  and a picnic area.

Powell's Little Fortis a smaller, more rustic campground  with just 11 sites located just up the Tower Road from the store.

Camp Roosevelt Recreation Areais located about 7 miles south of the store,This rustic campground is the site of the first CCC Camp, Camp Roosevelt.

For the  OFF ROAD ADVENTURER

Fort Valley provides many  opportunities for the adventurous traveler. Trails are used for not just hiking, but also mountain biking, mountain trail runs, horseback riding and endurance racing, and OHV  riding.

Peters Mill Run and Taskers Gapoffer the longest off-road trail complex in the state of Virginia. The required passes for riders are available for purchase at the store.

Old Dominion Endurance Ride This non-profit group sponsors several annual endurance rides, clinics, and events in the region.

Massanutten Mountain Trails 100 Mile Run is an annual event that takes place in May and attracts trail runners from around the world.
